The Ministry of Justice have issued today (27 February 2020), issued a statement on the Whiplash Reform Programme:
“The Ministry of Justice has today published a Written Ministerial Statement to provide an important update on next steps for the Whiplash Reform Programme. The key part of this update is confirmation the implementation date of these reforms will now be 1 August 2020.
“The Government remains firmly committed to implementing this important reform programme, and major progress has been made in the development on the new online portal to support claimants making a road traffic accident related personal injury claim valued under £5,000. However, additional work remains in relation to the completion of the new Pre-Action Protocol and Civil Procedure Rules and the publication of the whiplash tariff.
“It is absolutely right that this Government continues its commitment to tackle the high number and costs of whiplash claims, and the impact these have on the cost of motor insurance premiums. Delivering these reforms remains a key Government priority and we will continue to work with stakeholders to ensure that all are sufficiently prepared for the new measures on 1 August 2020.
